Oxidation Systems, Automatic , Complete with FILOX-R® media
- Use this system to remove Dissolved Iron, Hydrogen Sulfide, and Manganese.
- Filox-R media is the Cadillac of oxidizer media, is based on enhanced 80% manganese dioxide, and outperforms most other media used for this purpose. Nothing but the best!
- Life Expectancy of Filox-R: 10 years, typically, for low contaminant concentrations.
- pH Range: 5.0 - 9.0 Extreme pH ranges (i.e. 5 & 9) have an adverse effect.
- Filox-R performs much better (20-100 times better) than BIRM and manganese greensand, and is the best choice where you wish to use no oxidants or weak oxidants such as hypochlorite or Air Injection.
- Removal Capacity without adding additional chemicals (such as chlorine or permanganate): IRON - 15 ppm, HYDROGEN SULFIDE - 7 ppm, MANGANESE - 3 ppm
- Higher contaminant levels (ppms) can be removed by adding a chlorine injection pump or Venturi Air Injector upstream. Chlorine, Air Injection, any oxidizer will greatly enhance the performance of Filox-R. At the very least you should add an Air Injector upstream for best results.
- Maximum Removal Capacity with Chlorine Injection: IRON - 27 ppm, HYDROGEN SULFIDE - 17 ppm, MANGANESE - 11 ppm.
- Water with an Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) of below -170 millivolts requires the use of chlorine bleach injection, permanganate solution injection, (using feed pump listed below) or an Air Injection system upstream to boost the oxidation process. This is important. The ORP of your water should be measured by your water service professional.
- Install a whole house 5 micron sediment filter before and especially after this system. This is very very important. The oxidation process will create precipitate particles that must be removed upon leaving the unit, or they will coat and foul water softeners or other units downstream.
- Install this Filox-R system upstream of the water softener if you have a water softener.
- This backwashing system is completely automatic.
- Set the clock to backwash the system every 1-3 days, or once a day for best results, according to the manufacturer of Filox-R.

Chlorine Injection Pump (uses bleach)
- Injects a small amount of sodium hypochlorite or calcium hypochlorite solutions (liquid bleach) into your water lines. Allows for adjustable chlorine dosing.
- Use for chlorinating your own water, such as problematic well water. A residual Free Chlorine level of 3-5 ppm in contact with water for at least 1 minute will typically provide proper disinfection. This typically uses about 1 cup of laundry bleach per 300 gals. water. (More time and 5 ppm may be required for cold water.) Measure the residual Free Chlorine with test strips and adjust the chlorine dosing on the pump.
- Use to boost the oxidation performance of Filox-R® media for dissolved iron, hydrogen sulfide, and manganese removal. This becomes necessary when your water's Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) Value is below -170 millivolts
- If you do not want to use chlorine to oxidize the water, use our Venturi Air Injector.
- We highly recommend a Point of Use chlorine removal filter just before drinking, such as our high performance countertop carbon filter or under sink carbon filter. This will remove almost all of the chlorine and chlorine byproducts from the water.
- TIP: Removing chlorine from the water before it reaches a water softener will extend the lifespan of the water softening resin. This can be done with a whole house GAC filter.
- IF you have a water softener and IF you are using the chlorine to boost a Filox-R oxidation system, place a 5 micron sediment filter- followed by a GAC carbon filter- immediately upstream of the water softener, but downstream of the Filox system. This translates into the following arrangement: 1) chlorine injection, 2) 5 micron sediment filter, 3) Filox-R System, 4) a 5 micron sediment filter,critical 5) whole house GAC carbon cartridge or Backwashing Carbon System, 6) water softener system.

Air Injector Tank System for Chlorine-Free Oxidation
Air Injection is the chemical free way to boost oxidation of dissolved Iron,
Hydrogen Sulfide, and Manganese in water.
- Use this high performance venturi Air Injector with Air Mixing Tank to oxygenate your water before it contacts either your Filox-R Oxidation System or your Backwashing Catalytic Carbon System .
- Air is 21% oxygen, and this can easily replace the use of chlorine injection for oxidation/precipitation of Dissolved Iron, Hydrogen Sulfide, and Manganese.
- Often Filox-R and other oxidizing media will require you to add extra oxygenation (ORP) to the water to help it work better. The oxygen provided by this Air Injector System greatly accelerates the catalytic reaction process, but adds no chemicals, chlorine, or chlorine byproducts to the water.
