This Enhanced Performance Carbon Cartridge Set is of such high quality that it's the set we load into our 5 Stage RO Water Systems (both the Silver and Gold versions). This set includes carbon blocks that are VOC Rated*, uses coconut shell carbon, and processes many more gallons than standard cartridges.
The 1 micron sediment filter screens out a whole range of small particles from 1-5 microns that a standard 5 micron sediment filter ignores. These tiny sediments would normally end up inside the carbon blocks and the RO membrane, something which can be avoided with the Enhanced Carbon Cartridge set.
With this set, you'll get the following premium performance cartridges:
- (3) Purtrex 1 micron Nominal (Spun Polypropylene) Sediment Filter Cartridges, disposable. Change at least every 6 months.
- (2) Matrikx +5 premium carbon block filter (2-5 microns) (change every 6-12 months) Rated for VOC reduction, uses vegetable-derived coconut shell carbon.
- (1) OmniPure GAC 10" Post Filter with 1/4" threaded ports (change at least every 12 months)

* VOC means Volatile Organic Compounds. These are organic contaminants such as industrial solvents, gasoline ingredients, benzene, toluene, xylene, certain pesticides, certain herbicides, chlorinated solvents, etc.
